Birthday Girl!

Party Hat from The Cutting Cafe
This week's challenge over at The Cutting Cafe was to use the new Party Hats file. This set includes the traditional style cone party hat, and a really cute top hat. Since I had a special seven year old in mind, I chose the traditional style.
I was determined to use what I had on hand and not run off to the craft store (and run the risk of coming home with even more stuff!). I didn't have any ruffle, but I did have a spool of wide, shiny organza ribbon that even matched. I use a large basting stitch on my sewing machine and turned it into a ruffle and a pom-pom. I noticed after it was assembled that I should have used a smaller circle so more of my rosette would have shown, but I wasn't going to tear it apart and redo it when it still looked cute.
I am always happy when I can use a challenge project. This little hat went to a birthday party the very next day!
