Brrrrr . . . !

Brrr . . . it's getting cold outside! It's about time. Anyway, the Cutting Cafe Design Challenge was to create a card using the Christmas Shaker Card Set, which you can find here. So, here it is! I picked the mitten, and filled it with snow, I really enjoy making these cards - they are easy and go together fast! Be sure you check out all the other Design Team projects at the Cutting Cafe. I am always amazed at the creativity and talent of this group.
Happy Holidays!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi everyone! For this design challenge from The Cutting Cafe I used the Happy Thanksgiving Word Shaped Card file. I used my Explore to Print Then Cut the turkey and the Gobble Gobble graphics. You can't tell from this picture, but I used pop dots to attach the turkey to give it a little dimension.
There is still time to make your own! This card goes together f.a.s.t.! You can purchase the file here. Be sure to check out all of the other projects done by Regina's fabulous design team! Click here.
Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a SAFE Black Friday! I'll hold out for Cyber Monday . . .

Pumpkin Shaker Card

Pumpkin Shaker Card
The Design Team from The Cutting Cafe had a very fun assignment this time! Well, they are always fun, but this was a new kind of card for me - a shaker card. I actually used three of Regina's files for this. The main card is the Halloween and Fall Shaker Card set. It includes several different sentiments. You can purchase a set of 5 designs, or purchase them individually. They are all SO cute! The set is the way to go.
I printed cut the background using the EEK Background set.
The pumpkin face is from the Pumpkin Bag Template. I just cut the face from black vinyl and put it on my transparency. After everything was assembled I gently inked around my pumpkin with brown ink.
After I "fired" my cool temp glue gun and went back to my trusty ATG, this card flew together. So fun!

Sympathy Card

Unfortunately, another sympathy card. This was a "Make It Now" project from the Design Space library. The images are on Anna Griffin carts. I was NOT impressed with the instructions, or should I say lack of instructions for this card. I've never made a Make It Now project - maybe they are all that way. or, maybe it is just me. I added a little bling and dot work, The edges are inked in lavender but it is hard to notice. I tried white, but didn't like it so I went back to lavender.

Ghosties!

Ghosties!
A dozen little Ghosts all ready for giving. This was a free file courtesy of Omar Toro that can be found on his blog Awesome SVGs, along with many other styles, and may other designs. It went together really fast. Each ghost holds a good amount of candy - mine each have a full size Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, mini Rolos, and a mini bag of M&Ms stashed inside. I'll be sharing these with some co-workers.

Pumpkins!

Textured pumpkins!
Pumpkin Trio envelope
Three little textured pumpkins! Oh, and just a little spider. Aren't they cute? This file is from The Cutting Cafe (as all of the BEST files are . . .). I love them! I used my Cuttlebug to texture them up, and cut the smallest one out of burlap. I most likely won't to that again. Seems a little ragged on the edges to me, but oh well. Maybe I used the wrong settings? And yes, I know my card looks eerily similar to Regina's. What can I say, except that she has the best ideas, so how could I not copy?

The base of this card is brown craft card stock, and the envelope is made from it, too. I'm tying it closed with raffia and attaching a little pumpkin I created using the new Print Then Cut feature on my Cricut Explore. LOVE THAT! I used Print Then Cut for the little spider on the card, too.

I'll be giving this little card to a friend at work, who has been going through some stressful times lately. Her dad called her "Pumpkin" as a little girl (maybe he still does), and once she let that slip out I've called her that, too. I think this will make her smile, since she isn't expecting it.

And HEY! Who's ready for the 24 hour craft day on HSN Tuesday? I already have the day off . . .

October Birthday Card

An October birthday card for a co-worker who shares my birthday, She isn't really my "sis", but because of our shared birthday we refer to each other that way. The files are from The Cutting Cafe. I used the October Word Card file, and the birthday background file from the Balloon Fun set. I printed the background then cit the letters from it. The number was from a search in Design Space - which I had to pay for. I hope she likes it!

K-cup Holder

This fun little box went together so quickly! Remembering to bring K-cups home from work to put inside was the challenging part for me! But a few brain cells cooperated, and I was finally able to get the box photographed.

The file is from The Cutting Cafe, and can be found here. Regina has a lot of cute coffee themed files! I am reposting a picture at the end of the coffee cup gift card holder which matches this little box. The picture directly below shows the k-cups nestled comfortably in their box!

Back to School Fun!

Back to School Pillow Box
That was this week's challenge for the designers of The Cutting Cafe. Out of the challenge files, I chose this one. It was a tough decision . . . all of the designs included in this set are cute! There is even a school bus opening on one of them that you use a piece of clear transparency and make a see through window! So cute. Probably not the best idea to have a white background for this picture, but I hope you can see it ok. The paper I chose looks like ruled notebook paper. The pillow box is large enough to be filled with a gift card, plus some school supplies like a small calculator, fun shaped erasers, or even some "fun sized" candy bars. I sent this one home with my friend Kerry for her daughter.

Make sure you stop by the Cutting Cafe and see what all the other designers did! It is just amazing how different everyone creates the same basic pattern. I get inspired each time I look at the designs, and I sure you will too! You can see them all HERE.

"Cupcake" Box

This challenge for the Design Team at The Cutting Cafe was right up my alley - packaging! We could choose from various packaging sets (all of them cute!) and I chose the cupcake box. But, I didn't make cupcakes this week because yesterday I did the 2014 Splash! 5k with Colin and Natalie, and spent time visiting with them for the afternoon. And guess what? My grocery store, Ralph's, won't sell single cupcakes! So I couldn't even get one for my prop. Instead, I filled my little box with Hershey's Kisses.

I'll use this box over and over again, I can tell. The cutting file comes with three different cutout window choices for the lid, as well as a solid lid. I used the circle, adding a scalloped circle trim on my own. The other choices were a heart or a frame. In Design Space, you could easily use the solid lid and attach any shape you'd like to create and cut a custom window.

Then I kept thinking. . .  for Christmas I am planning to make some teacher ornaments using vinyl and clear glass ornaments. I think this box will be a PERFECT size to package a custom ornament in!

Check out more fabulous work from the Design Team here.

Right This Way Santa!

#cricut #imadeit
Another project the Christmas Gifts in Vinyl SVG Collection from SVGcuts.com. I made several of these. I used a coupon on the wooden arrow at Michael's, so it was a few cents over $5. I think I'll be gifting them.

Home for the Holidays!

#cricut #imadeit
I made this using the Christmas Gifts Vinyl SVG Collection  from SVGcuts.com. I love every project in this set, and will be making them all this year. This was so easy, and fast! I was able to get the chalkboard sign from JoAnns for half price - $2o.

Happy Dog Bowl

I am going nuts with vinyl, and putting it on everything! This was an image I just stumbled on in the Cricut Library subscription.

Vinyl Silhouette

Vinyl on glass
#cricut #imadeit
I love cutting vinyl on my Cricut Explore! This was a based photo of Colin and Natalie I downloaded from Natalie's Facebook page. After converting it to a silhouette using Stencilgram, I uploaded it to Design Space, cleaned it up, and cut it. I ended up doing it twice because of all the air bubbles. So much of the photo is solid black that is was a tough one. I redid it using the wet transfer method, and had much better results! After drying overnight, the few I did have had vanished. Excuse the glare on the photo of the finished project - I couldn't avoid it.
The original photo I took if from is below.

Birthday Girl!

Party Hat from The Cutting Cafe
This week's challenge over at The Cutting Cafe was to use the new Party Hats file. This set includes the traditional style cone party hat, and a really cute top hat. Since I had a special seven year old in mind, I chose the traditional style.
I was determined to use what I had on hand and not run off to the craft store (and run the risk of coming home with even more stuff!). I didn't have any ruffle, but I did have a spool of wide, shiny organza ribbon that even matched. I use a large basting stitch on my sewing machine and turned it into a ruffle and a pom-pom. I noticed after it was assembled that I should have used a smaller circle so more of my rosette would have shown, but I wasn't going to tear it apart and redo it when it still looked cute.
I am always happy when I can use a challenge project. This little hat went to a birthday party the very next day!

Cutting Cafe Challenge - Letters!

"L"ove is . . . Colin & Natalie!
‪#‎imadeit‬ ‪#‎cricut
Hello everyone!
The Cutting Cafe Design Team assignment this week was to use either a single letter, or a folded letter card from The Cutting Cafe file set called A-Z Shaped Cards (you can find the set here). I knew exactly what letter I wanted - L for Love! My son and his beautiful girlfriend are the perfect example of love, and I wanted to use them as my inspiration.

After making the card, I used one of my favorite photos, turned it black and white, and re-sized it to fit in my card. Perfect! I hope they like it!

That was the challenge for the designers of The Cutting Cafe this week. I chose to showcase my Baby Gift Card holder. This was fun! It was made for my co-worker Jennifer, who now has a new baby boy named Ethan. Congratulations! If you'd like this template, follow me over to here. If babies aren't in your future, you can also purchase word shaped cards for everything from Graduates to Birthdays!
